Rental Requirements

Driver's License

• A valid, unexpired driver's license is required for all approved renters.
• The renter's name on the license must match the name on the reservation and payment method.
• International renters must present a valid license from their home country along with an International Driving Permit where required.

Insurance

Approved self-drive renters must provide proof of coverage before keys are released. One of the following is required:

• Personal auto insurance with comprehensive and collision coverage — Crown verifies your policy before your rental date.
• Proof of insurance that meets Crown's requirements. Coverage varies by policy and vehicle; confirm applicable coverage directly with your insurer before booking.

Age Requirements

• Age requirements depend on the vehicle and reservation type.
• Renters aged 21–24 may be eligible on select vehicles and subject to approval — a young driver surcharge applies.
• Renters under 21 are not eligible to rent or drive Crown vehicles.
• Minors may not rent or drive under any arrangement, including prom, graduation, or family-led bookings.

Security Authorization

A refundable security authorization hold may be required on your credit card before the vehicle is released. The exact amount depends on the approved vehicle and reservation terms and is disclosed in the final written quote before checkout.

The authorization is a hold, not a charge. Funds are only collected if one of the following applies at return:

• damage beyond the documented pre-delivery condition
• traffic, toll, or parking citations issued during the rental
• smoking or vaping in the vehicle ($500)
• fuel returned below the delivery level ($150 service fee plus fuel at pump rate)
• cleaning required beyond a standard detail, at the cost of remediation
• mileage driven beyond the included daily allowance
• late return, after a 30-minute grace period, at $125 per started hour, replaced by one Late Return Daily Rate once 2 hours 30 minutes late

• Every rental is documented with photographs before delivery and again at return. Any amount collected is itemized against that record.
• Crown initiates release after return and inspection. Your card issuer controls when the available credit is restored.
• The authorization amount is confirmed before your reservation is approved.

Mileage and Fuel

• Included mileage and per-mile overage rates vary by vehicle. The current allowance and rate are listed on each vehicle detail page.
• Additional mileage is billed at the per-vehicle rate shown on its detail page and confirmed in your reservation agreement.
• Vehicles must be returned with the same fuel level as delivery. Fuel replacement fees apply otherwise.

Prohibited Uses

• ✗No racing, drag racing, speed runs, or track use.
• ✗No burnouts, drifting, reckless driving, or aggressive launch-control abuse.
• ✗No transportation of illegal substances or activity.
• ✗No subletting, peer-to-peer sharing, or third-party vehicle use.
• ✗Driving outside the approved delivery/use area requires written approval.
• ✗Passenger transport or chauffeur-style use is not permitted without prior written approval.
