The rental charge pays for the reservation. A security authorization temporarily reduces available credit by the approved amount. The exact amount depends on the vehicle and appears in the itemized quote before payment.

Crown currently lists vehicle-specific authorization amounts on the pricing page. The customer should confirm enough available credit on the same approved card before the handoff. A debit card or an account with only the rental amount available may not support the authorization.

The authorization gives the rental a defined financial safeguard for contract items that can only be known after return, such as damage, excess mileage, missing fuel, late return, tolls, tickets, cleaning beyond ordinary use, or other agreed charges.

It does not replace the renter's obligations, insurance requirements, or the return inspection. It is one part of the risk process, not a permission slip to ignore the agreement.

Crown documents the vehicle at return and reviews its condition, mileage, fuel, timing, and known incident or toll information. When the rental is clear, Crown initiates release of the unused authorization according to the agreement.

The card issuer controls when available credit becomes visible again. That timing can vary even after Crown has released the hold. Customers planning around a credit limit should ask their issuer how authorization releases display on their account.

A transparent quote should let the renter answer four questions before paying: What is the rental subtotal? What other approved fees apply? What is the security authorization? What could create a later charge under the agreement?
